The People's Republic Of South Yorkshire White T-shirt . Part of our very own Chips & Gravy range this Tee design reminisces of our times as kids and heavily subsidised buses by the council. It was only 2p on the bus to town when i was a kid - the cheapest in the country, This led to Sheffield being referred to as the Peoples republic of South Yorkshire. The fist idea and symbol of rising up - in this instance came from a popular comedy program on TV at the time - Citizen Smith - with the lead character, Robert Lindsey - thrusting his fist in the air and shouting 'Power To The People' . The combination of the 2 ideas fit very well and resonate with all locals who see it.
